The Wise Women Awards, the only UK event that recognises and honours the contribution of Black Christian women in the Church and in wider society. The 8th Wise Women Awards, held in association with Keep The Faith magazine, will be held at the Paddington Hilton Hotel, 146 Praed Street, London W2 on March 17, 2012. Attendees will enjoy a three-course Caribbean meal; entertainment from leading gospel artists, and an inspiring Awards ceremony.
The public can nominate Christian women in nine categories, including Music, Media, Leadership, Youth, Business, Missions and the Over-60s.
Marjorie Esomowei, co-pastor of Triumphant Church International in Tottenham, North London, and founder of Wisdom for Women International, is the brainchild behind this much-needed initiative. She founded the Wise Women Awards in 2005, and has seen it grow into an event attended by people from across the denominational spectrum.
She said, “Christian women do great things in the Church and in the wider community, and the Wise Women Awards will celebrate the contribution of women in our churches and society. This is an event for everyone, and will highlight the role that faith in God plays in inspiring women to achieve, empower and support others.”
Shirley McGreal, publisher of Keep The Faith said, “The Wise Women Awards celebrates one of the Church’s greatest weapons, its women. Keep The Faith is glad to be associated with this event, and our hope is that it gets the full support of Britain’s Christian community.”
