Snatching people from the fire through New Ministry by Miriam Virgo

If people won’t go to church, Miriam Virgo aims to take the church to the people, through her recently-launched ministry, Fire fighters, and is calling on fellow Christians to help her in this quest.  She stated, “We aim to be a friend to those that need us.  This is achieved by hospital visits, prison visits, community events, street outreach, homeless outreach, praying for the sick, and coming alongside those who have been wounded or broken by circumstances in their lives.”

Fire fighters will train an army of volunteers to provide prayer for those who need spiritual and emotional healing; assistance for individuals needing practical support; a listening ear and support for people who have experienced emotional turmoil, and understanding for people who might be struggling with addiction and bad habits.

Miriam has extensive experience working with people, as well as facing challenges in her Christian life.  She is a trained policewoman, and has experienced many of the ups and downs of life herself.

It was as a result of undergoing an intense training programme at Ellel Ministries that Miriam felt equipped to launch Fire fighters – an organisation she was first inspired to start in 2005, and which is based on Jude 22-23.

Fire fighters is in its early stages, but Miriam is praying that Christians will work alongside her to make a difference in people’s lives and communities.
