It was interesting to read the views of Black Christians on the appointment of Justin Welby as the new Archbishop of Canterbury. I fully expected the Rt Rev John Sentamu, Archbishop of Canterbury, to be appointed to the role, but I have to take comfort from the fact that God knows what He is doing, and that he is the right man for the post. Justin Welby appears to be a Christian leader with a broad range of experience which, I am sure, will put him in good stead as he grapples with the many spiritual, social, political and cultural issues that will confront him, as he attempts to provide spiritual leadership to the nation. My prayers are with him.
