Three million meals for hungry children in a two year period

Premier’s joint initiative with ‘Feed the Hungry’

delivers a month of meals for 148,446 children

Nearly three million meals have been provided for hungry children in the past two years as a result of a joint initiative between Britain’s largest Christian publisher and broadcaster Premier, and hunger relief charity ‘Feed the Hungry’.

Figures to February this year indicate that the Premier project helped deliver 2,968,925 meals during the two year period – providing 148,446 children with meals for a whole month – through a series of on-air appeals and promotions to Premier Christian Radio’s audience.

“The response to our on-going appeals on behalf of ‘Feed the Hungry’ has been nothing short of magnificent,” said Peter Kerridge, Premier’s CEO.

“This initiative has shown just how generous the Christian community, across the UK, really is.  Premier is in the privileged position of working with churches and individuals every day of the year and this is just one example of the practical difference our audience is bringing to people’s lives.”

‘Feed the Hungry’ was Premier’s chosen Charity of the Year from September 2013 to February 2016 – the first six months of the programme being largely concerned with pre-launch activity.

During the same period, Premier also recruited the support of churches across the UK in an annual project distributing food bags to food banks and other community projects at Christmas.

‘Feed the Hungry’ directly overseas the entire relief process and has delivered over £125 million of relief supplies to over 92 nations worldwide since 1987.
