British gospel label Zoe Records is set to host its first ever gospel music festival at ARC, A Radical Church, 66a Sebert Road, London E7 0NH.
Taking place during Black History Month, The Fri:d3m Festival will feature leading British, African and American Gospel artists and will run from 13-15 October.
The festival will also feature performances by 30 young people who attended a summer school run by Zoe Gospel in August 2017 where they taught gospel singing and rap.
Each night of The Fri:d3m Festival will have a different musical theme in order to reflect the diverse nature of gospel music in the 21st century. Music genres that will be featured include African praise, hip-hop, Afrobeat, gospel soul, grime, gospel R’n’B and traditional gospel.
Artists scheduled to perform at the Fri:d3m Festival include MOBO nominated choir Volney Morgan and New Ye, award winner Sarah Teibo, Andrew Bello and many others to be confirmed. There’ll also be special appearances Ayan Jesu, a group of singers from Nigeria whose musical accompaniment is just traditional drums and percussion instruments, and US Gospel sensation Professor Wilbur Belton, who is also Tye Tribbett’s uncle.
Isaac Odeniran, founder of the Fri:d3m Festival said, “There is a thriving gospel scene here in the UK which features some great artists. The Fri:d3m Festival aims to provide a platform where the general public can experience the vibrancy, diversity, excitement and musicality of gospel music.”
“The Fri:d3m Festival will feature some brilliant artists and it’s my desire that the Fri:d3m Festival becomes a key regular fixture in the UK’s gospel music calendar.”
Tickets cost £7 per night, £12 for 2 nights £15 for all 3 nights. Each night of the Fri:d3m Festival will have different musical themes.
