ASOS used a black plus-sized model to sell a bikini and people are here for it

Though the garments for sale might be gorgeous and diverse, seeing white, skinny model after white, skinny model selling your clothes is not.

ASOS’s  newest swimsuit model, Vivian Eyo-Ephraim, is changing the game and slaying a yellow bikini for ASOS Curve.

The initial tweet from a body positive blogger celebrating the model had reached 30,000 likes and 8,000 retweets at the time of writing, as people called on Black Twitter to work its magic.

Eyo-Ephraim told Metro more about her career – and just how important diversity is to her:

I think it’s incredibly important to start re-defining what is the norm, and start celebrating our individuality.

The modelling world is still so new to me, to see the amazing support and response from a job I did is just incredible, I couldn’t be more grateful to ASOS and Bridge for taking a chance on me and allowing me to show the world that everybody is beautiful, no matter what their shape, size or ethnicity.

We all know diversity matters to a fair, just society. Unsurprisingly, it matters for our mental health too – and it turns out plus-sized models make us both healthier and happier.
