Your Personal Invitation: In Conversation with Margaret Bankole

It is our pleasure to invite you to join us in rethinking the Government’s campaign against gun and knife violence by putting healthy families first. Join us at ‘In conversation with Margaret Bankole’ for the launch of her critically acclaimed debut book “My story… But then is it really my story?”

The book provides a voice for hurting mothers and speaks to parental pain and a mother’s trauma. It tells of a mother’s love for a wayward and tenacious son. She discovered a God given love which carried her through the worst of things and caused her to hold onto him. This demonstration of unconditional love for her son caused him to make a change. Herein lays a life lesson for parents, professionals, pastors and young people. It really doesn’t matter how far people may fall, they can come back. You do not have to lose your mind in the process!

This exciting book launch will take place as follows:

Date:                Saturday July 14, 2018

Venue:             DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, 30 John Islip Street, London, SW1P 4DD

 Time:               6:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Barrister, pastor, counsellor, author and mother of four, Margaret Bankole is a social advocate and campaigns with charities and government projects to end gang violence. Margaret specialises in helping people heal emotionally and overcome traumatic experiences and has spoken alongside the Reverend Al Sharpton, Diane Abbott MP, Lee Jasper and Patricia Lamour regarding the issue of gun and knife violence amongst the youth from a parent’s perspective.

Margaret is a core member of Blaksox, which is a social action movement formed to inspire marginalised communities to respond to an increasingly challenging and changing political and economic environment.

Attending the book launch and listening to the concerns of those present should help to highlight the issues within communities regarding gun and knife violence and how we might help to address them.

There will be a panel discussion and structured Q&A hosted by Pastor Peter Nembhard.

Panelists on the night:

Lee Jasper | British activist – Operation Black Vote, Blaksox

Patricia Lamour | GEEDA, Blaksox

Viv Ahmun | Core Plan, Blaksox
