Everyday Inclusion techniques could boost businesses by billions

This week industry leaders will gather to explore how everyday inclusion can become an everyday reality and highlight how it could boost the economy by billions of pounds.

Marking National Inclusion Week (which is created and run by Inclusive Employers) over 750 organisations will share their practice on improving inclusion, from supporting staff with mental ill health to improving recruitment of under-represented groups.

Research shows that full economic participation by people from black, Asian and minority ethnic groups could be worth an extra £24 billion a year.

Speaking at an event marking National Inclusion Week, run and organised by Inclusive Employers, Employment Minister Alok Sharma is expected to thank organisations for their role in the UK’s thriving economy and highlight the work of the Government to back inclusive businesses.

Richard McKenna, Managing Director of Inclusive Employers said:

“National Inclusion Week is a great way to celebrate and inspire inclusion and we hope 7 days of action will give all of our participating organisations 365 days of inclusion related traction.

“Our Daily Challenges, webinars, toolkits and events offer something for everyone in our record breaking year.”

Minister of State for Employment, Alok Sharma said:

“The UK workforce is becoming increasingly diverse. We have seen record levels of employment across society with more older people in work than ever before, unemployment amongst Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic groups continuing to fall and youth unemployment at an all-time low.

“This stands as testimony to the efforts made by employers to attract and retain workers from all backgrounds.

“But we can do more. The Government continues to work with employers to drive change and implement policies that help to eradicate workplace discrimination.”

Created and run by Inclusive Employers, National Inclusion Week is an annual opportunity to generate new ideas to make inclusion an everyday reality.

This year over 750 organisations have participated in National Inclusion Week. The campaign began in 2012.
