Luxury Diwali inspired candle range launches in UK

Fill your home with the auspicious aromas of Indian Rose, White Jasmine and Cinnamon Spice this Diwali as a brand new home fragrance range launches its first collection to celebrate the Festival of Light.

The luxurious range features auspicious, traditional scents which are deeply entwined with the festival’s history, including indulgent Indian Rose, cleansing White Jasmine and purifying Cinnamon Spice – each carefully selected for symbolising ‘new beginnings’, love and prosperity.

The collection is available as single candles, layered candles, trio packs, handmade primrose diffusers and T-lights.

Dating back to the 6th Century, Diwali or Deepavali, Sanskrit for ‘festival of light’, is celebrated by millions of Hindus, Sikhs and Jains across the world and is marked by beautiful displays of candles and lights in the home. The festival falls in October or November each year, depending on the cycle of the moon, and its glistening nature has seen it gain wider appeal in the UK, increasingly celebrated in schools, restaurants and other organisations.

The decorative home fragrance range, with strong seasonal appeal, has attracted listings with supermarket giants Asda and Morrisons.

Diva by Harper is the first UK brand to develop a collection specifically to cater to a Diwali audience as founder Harper Dulai explains: “We are incredibly excited to launch this new range to a UK audience. One of the key ways of celebrating Diwali is through the lighting of candles. While many homes will make use of basic tea lights or traditional imported products, up until now there haven’t been any UK ranges specifically catering to this much-loved Diwali ritual.

“The Diwali lamp is known as the Diya or Diva – the Sanskrit word for lamp. It is extremely auspicious and is believed to bring prosperity to the home. The diya is truly a great symbol of optimism and prosperity for the members of the household.

“We are thrilled to bring a specialised candle range to the market, which features time-honoured Indian fragrances, but with a contemporary twist. Diwali is very much like New Year’s Eve – it is all about new beginnings, fresh starts and cleansing the home. Each and every scent within our Diwali collection has been carefully selected to capture the essence of this magical festival.”

Diva by Harper will be adding new seasonal, fragrance collections throughout the year with plans to launch a subscription service.

The Diva range features candles made with premium quality essential oils and hand-poured vegetable wax, which allow for long burn times, releasing a pleasant and lasting fragrance.

Diwali is one of a handful of Indian religious festivals beginning to enjoy wider appeal in the UK. Holi, also known as the ‘Festival of Colour’ is another Hindu tradition that is increasingly attracting audiences of all faiths with events taking place at parks across the country.

The premium quality products, available in Indian Rose, White Jasmine and Cinnamon Spice, features:

Diva by Harper Scented Single Candles – Up to 30 hours burn time. RRP £3 each.

If you are looking at really good candles for Diwali, you could also consider a brand called the Maeva Store, which has a good range of candles and traditional diyas, meant for festivals such as Diwali. For instance, their Nalini Ghee diyas are as traditional as they get – set inside brass or copper containers, these are reminiscent of the traditional diyas, but in a slightly modern garb! And then there are plenty of tea lights to choose from – from the golden tea lights to the coloured tea lights or even their gorgeous pillar candles that work really well when set around the home or even out in the garden or patio!
