The Rt Revd John Holbrook, Bishop of Brixworth in the Diocese of Peterborough, is to be Chair of Trustees of the national Christian charity ReSource. ReSource was founded in 2004 to bring together the work of Anglican Renewal Ministries and Springboard, combining their respective emphases on spiritual renewal and evangelism. The charity’s Patron, the Archbishop of York, has warmly welcomed +John’s appointment:
“As Patron I am delighted that Bishop John Holbrook is to serve as Chair of ReSource. His ministry in the UK has spanned urban estates, inner city, market town, and ecumenical settings, and his overseas experience in Amman, Sudan, and Pakistan has given him the broader global perspective. As such he brings his extensive experience and a deep longing to see more of the Holy Spirit’s work in the life of the Church everywhere. May God bless +John in this role, and may he be a blessing to ReSource as he serves as Chair of Trustees.”
ReSource is active across the Church of England, and other UK denominations, supporting churches and church leaders through training days, retreats, renewal events, church weekends and clergy mentoring. It’s particular calling, expressed in its mission statement, is to enable little, local and ordinary churches to engage with the Holy Spirit for renewal, discipleship and mission.
“Bishop John’s appointment will further strengthen the work of the charity following a recent review and re-launch”
says ReSource’s full time Director, Kevin Roberts, formerly Archdeacon of Carlisle and Residentiary Canon of Carlisle Cathedral.
“Bishop John brings to the role wide experience of the church as a Parish Priest and as a bishop and he shares the charity’s longing for the renewing work of the Holy Spirit as the wellspring for the church’s mission.” Speaking about his new appointment Bishop Holbrook says “The Holy Spirit enables ordinary people and churches to do extraordinary things. I’m thrilled to be asked to join ReSource in sharing this ministry.”
