The search is on for new design geniuses that can produce one innovative, creative, cutting edge or couture garment.
The Fashion Designers’ & Craft Makers’ Young Designer Project is aimed at creative and talented young people and with a presentation at the end of the project taking place in London on the 27 April 2019.
Young fashion designers aged 9-25 years that wish to take part are required to produce a story board and make one couture garment.
To take part young designers should send an email to: email@example.com requesting a booking form and including their age, a little bit of info about themselves and past work done.
Use the subject line ‘FDC Young Designer Project UK’ in the subject line.
One lucky designer will be chosen to showcase a collection in the next New York City or Atlanta Georgia USA fashion showcase.
Youngdesigners under 18 years must get parents permission.
FDC Young Designer Project was founded by London based Knitwear Designer Joanna Marcella. The aim is to increase the number and visibility of young and exceptionally gifted multi-cultural designers; to encourage them to reach their true potential and become as high profile as designers like: Marc Jacobs, Vivienne Westwood or Alexander McQueen.
The brief and final design is to design a cutting edge, couture garment based on any theme; young designers will present the completed design in a Fashion Presentation.
The Fashion Presentation will host a ‘Meet the Press Session’ with members of the media and other emerging national and international cutting edge designers.
All participating young designers are invited to meet journalists and bloggers in a networking opportunity. The Collections Presentation is open to the general public, invited guests and the media.
Some support will be available via email, however, young designers can also attend progress meetings if needed.
There are four events planned for 2019; one in London, one in Birmingham UK, one in Atlanta and the other in New York City. Communication with designers and their parents can be carried out via email, Skype or whatsapp if needed to explain the brief.
