Thousands expected to attend events in the West of England

On Saturday 8th June, churches in Gloucester are partnering together to celebrate Pentecost with an evangelistic event – JustOne at Gloucester Cathedral.

J.John will preach the good news of Jesus in the newly refurbished cathedral in Gloucester. The organising team has placed such emphasis on the importance of inviting a +1 they have halved the number of tickets available and committed to each ticket admitting 2 people.

We continue to see a commitment to church partnership across the UK and are thrilled that Mariners Gloucester, Kingfisher Church, Gloucester Elim Church, Hillview Church and Gloucester Community Church have partnered with Gloucester Cathedral to make this event a reality.

Christian worship has taken place on the site of Gloucester Cathedral for 1,300 years. Originally a religious site founded by Osric, an Anglo-Saxon prince, the site became a Benedictine monastery 400 years later in the 11th century. In 1541, Gloucester Abbey surrendered its buildings (at the request of King Henry VIII) and it became Gloucester Cathedral. We are delighted that the Diocese of Gloucester is in support of this event and the Bishop of Gloucester, the Rt Revd Rachel Treweek, will be in attendance.

On 9th June, Pentecost Sunday, J.John will address an expected crowd of 2,000 people at Thy Kingdom Come in Worcester. This event is part of a global movement of Christians praying for more people to come to know Jesus Christ.

The event will see Christians from across Worcestershire gather at Worcester Arena to pray and worship. J.John will be joining with the Bishop of Worcester and church leaders from many denominations to encourage those attending to be more intentional in their own personal evangelism.

J.John said:

‘I am so looking forward to a weekend ministering in the west of England. JustOne at Gloucester Cathedral promises to be an inspirational evening and I pray that many will progress in their journey of faith. Thy Kingdom Come is a great opportunity to be empowered afresh by the Holy Spirit and to be commissioned to pray, care and share the good news of Jesus.’
