Methodist Insurance has launched a new award scheme to celebrate the valuable work of volunteers in the Methodist Community.
The Methodist Insurance Church Volunteer Awards, which launched on Monday 3 June 2019, are a chance for Methodist churches and their communities to say thank you to the people that give up their time to make a difference in their communities.
Open to all Methodist churches in the UK, each church can nominate a volunteer or group of volunteers that have gone above and beyond to support their communities. A panel of judges will then select winners from 11 regions¹ who will each receive a prize of £1,000 for their church.
Following this, the public has a chance to vote for their favourite volunteer, contributing to the selection of an overall winner who will receive an additional £2,000 prize for their church.
Commenting on the Church Volunteer Awards, Reverend Paul Davis, chair of the business and development committee at Methodist Insurance said:
“Church volunteers are the backbone of the church community. They do not ask to be thanked, but quietly undertake vital tasks for the benefit of their church and its community. The dedication and support that they provide should be celebrated.
Methodist churches that want to enter the competition can find more information on the insurance firm’s website: www.methodistinsurance.co.uk/volunteerawards. The closing date for entries is 31 October 2019.
Reverend Paul added:
“We hope that the Methodist Insurance Church Volunteer Awards will raise the profile of the work they do and go some way towards helping the Methodist Community say thank you for everything they do.”
