Sermon of the Year 2020 Grand Final goes Online
This year’s Sermon of the Year Grand Final has been changed from a live event to a video available on the Web. It goes live at 19:30 on Thursday 25 June at preachweb.org/final
Each of the four finalists has pre-recorded a video of their sermon. Each sermon is ten to twelve minutes long, with the full programme lasting just under an hour. At the end of the programme, viewers will be invited to choose their favourite.
The four finalists are:
Paul Harrod from Olveston in Gloucestershire Karen Taylor from Fareham in Hampshire Jan Thompson from Farningham in Kent William Wade from Cuffley in Hertfordshire
The video and option to choose a favourite will be available until 31 July. The winner of Sermon of the Year 2020 will be announced on 1 August and presented with their award. Sermon of the Year 2020 is supported by Sponsor, SPCK and Associate Sponsor, Ecclesiastical.
Louisa Lockwood, editor of Preach commented,
“It was a great disappointment to us all when we had to cancel our live event. But moving it to an online format means we can still appreciate the efforts of all our contestants in entering. We wish our finalists all the best.”
Ken Gibson, Marketing & Membership Manager at LWPT said, “Broadcasting our event online means it can be watched by many more people and we hope many viewers will be seeing the Sermon of the Year Grand Final for the first time. We’re very grateful to our sponsor SPCK and associate sponsor Ecclesiastical for their patience and continued support during these difficult times”.
Ian Buchanan, CEO of LWPT, publishers of Preach, added,
“Taking the Sermon of the Year Grand Final online is an exciting development for LWPT and obviously we’d rather have none of the circumstances that required us to make the change. The LWPT team has been working hard on producing an online event that maintains the spirit and essence of Sermon of the Year.”
