New Bible App Set to Transform Communities During Lockdown

Christians feeling isolated after nearly twelve weeks of lockdown can now study the Bible and build community at the same time, thanks to the new WordGo app, launched in the UK and Ireland this week by Bible Study Fellowship (BSF).

The app aims to transform Christian communities in lockdown, combining BSF’s 60 years’ experience of running face-to-face Bible studies along with its expertise in online discipleship. Built specifically for the under 40 demographic, the app offers an accessible way to prioritise faith in God, and develop habits of regular Bible study amidst the challenges of today’s fast-paced, ever-changing culture.

British and Irish Christians will now be able to join thousands of others across 144 countries to access the app, which offers a variety of concise 2-6 week Bible studies, scripture readings, audio teaching and extra notes. Fully customisable content within the app enables participants to decide how much time they want to study each day and the app provides the right amount of content to match.

According to a nationwide poll by Savanta ComRes1 for Tearfund UK, nearly half of the UK admit to praying, with a quarter (24 percent) of UK adults watching or listening to a religious service online since lockdown began.

Simon Lennox, Director for WordGo in Ireland says, “Due to COVID-19, people are feeling isolated, lonely and disconnected. With restrictions on gatherings likely to continue for some time, people are looking for new ways to connect.”

“WordGo is one of those ways – helping people to stay connected to God and their communities, which is important more now than ever. WordGo fills a need; we’ve taken the core components of effective Bible study and simply put them in an app. It creates a daily rhythm of Bible Study for the user and grows spiritual fitness.”
The WordGo app is designed for those with busy lifestyles and creates a regular rhythm of Bible Study. The app encourages participants to meet once a week, bi-weekly or monthly to discuss questions and encourage each other in what they have learnt.
