Ryan Hylton – ‘Journey’

Born and raised in church. I knew every song, every queue, every prayer whether that was opening, offering or closing. I didn’t walk the walk, but I certainly talked the talk. Religious! A modern-day Pharisee. Unconverted with no sincere desire to change.

One day I sat in church 3 years ago listening to the simplest sermon I have ever heard ‘’You must be born again’’ At long last, I got it! I need to be converted. I needed changing! I needed to truly surrender and confess that Jesus Christ is Lord of my life. That Sunday morning, I remember walking to the altar, in each step I felt the heavy baggage slowly unloading and I bowed my knees to Jesus.

The doorway to destiny is you listening to God, the ear is the gateway to the soul.  It is easier said than done, listening does not come naturally it is a constant battle, but as we continue our walk with God it is key that we are obedient. We are living in uncertain times, pestilences and division of race just like the bible said there will be in these last days, we can see individual’s refusal to accept truth. This is what inspires me to make music, people are lost, and people have been searching during this pandemic.

So, where did the name Journey come from? I decided to name my EP journey because that is simply what life is, life is a journey. We plan today for life tomorrow. We leave behind the world and the road to destruction and walk on a new path in Christ. Our ultimate aim is to reach the finish line and get to our final destination which is heaven. I hope that my songs can minister Gods love to those who do not know him and in every lyric, they would ask questions and become curious about who Jesus is. Then there are the saints. I want them to feel refreshed and be reminded that Gods mercy renews in the morning just like the scripture says Lamentations 3:22-23 “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases: his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning;
