CYM builds its team as it looks to the future

CYM, the specialist theological college for ministry with children and youth as well as mission in the community, continues to put the blocks in place for a strong future by appointing a highly experienced senior lecturer to the teaching team delivering its BA and MA courses.

New Senior Lecturer, Graham Bright has excellent experience and academic credentials. In addition to teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the fields of Education, Childhood and Youth Studies and Youth and Community Work for Teesside and York St John Universities for over a decade, Graham has more than thirty years’ experience of church-based youth work. He is also part of the team leading the development of The Well, a Methodist intergenerational church plant in Darlington.

Graham says,

“I am looking forward to the opportunity to contribute to the next stage of CYM’s journey, building on its reputation as a thought leader and innovator in the area of children’s and youth ministry. The CYM name is highly regarded in the UK church and, as it steps out from the sad closure of St John’s College Nottingham, CYM has many opportunities to further develop its reputation in this field. Much of the fresh evangelistic and development work in the UK church is targeted at children, youth and community mission, so the continuing availability of high quality training for workers in these areas is vital.”

Also joining CYM is Jacqui Brown who will be providing administrative support to the college operations. She has extensive experience in the education sector, having most recently been involved in administering Higher Education distance learning courses.

Robin Smith, Principal Lecturer at CYM says,

“With the appointment of Graham and Jacqui we have succeeded in enhancing an already strong team, enabling us to face with confidence the challenges of delivering degree level teaching in a time of Covid, as well as preparing CYM for an exciting, fully independent, future.”
