Church Urban Fund Is Recruiting A Listening And Learning Officer
Church Urban Fund Is recruiting a Listening and Learning Officer to build authentic connections to enable people to tell their own stories.
Listening to people’s stories can change hearts and minds in a way that facts and figures cannot. The Listening and Learning Officer is a role that has arisen as a result of our new strategy, the purpose of which is to ’empower people of all ages, backgrounds, and beliefs to serve, speak and lead’.
A consistent observation from our own, and our partners’ work, is the frustration felt by many which come from a sense of being overlooked. Whilst voices in grassroots communities often go unheard, conversely, many of our stakeholders, including leaders in programme and policy influencing roles, seek access to, a connection with and information from people who have personal experience and insight of a given issue but, very often, do not know how to achieve this.
This newly created role aims to broker and bridge the gap between the central and local and, in so doing, influence heads, hearts, practices, and policies across England. These stories will be used by the Listening and Learning Officer and wider CUF staff to contribute to debate and the influence of policy and practice, as well as CUF’s own strategy.
The ideal candidate will have first-hand experience of a community project or outreach work, ideally gained through volunteering and/or having been on the receiving end of a service. This role requires someone with excellent relationship-building skills based on empathy, trust, and skillful listening. This post offers a really unique opportunity to innovate and develop a new programme, and would suit someone who is self-motivated with excellent organisation and time management skills.
CUF embraces diversity and equal opportunity. We are committed to building a team that represents a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills. We, therefore, welcome and encourage applications from all backgrounds and all sections of the community.
