International Faith-based Charity GFA World Celebrates 25th Year In The UK Helping Millions Of People Living In Poverty

Since its founding by Dr K.P. Yohannan in 1979, GFA World has become one of the largest international faith-based mission organisations globally. Entering the UK as a registered charity in 1997, GFA World has built a sustainable model supporting the global poor by equipping local Christian workers to provide education programmes, health initiatives, practical gifts and spiritual support.

To date, GFA World worldwide has supported the training and commissioning of thousands of indigenous Christian workers to 18 countries, provided over 39 million people in poverty with clean water, dug over 160,000 wells, sponsored more than 140,000 children and provided 60,000 families with proper sanitation.

JP Dao, UK Chief Executive at GFA World, said:

It is a significant moment to have passed the quarter century mark in the UK. The amazing work being done around the globe has, and continues to be, possible because of the overwhelming support we receive from the UK public, to whom we are extremely thankful to have helped us reach this milestone.

Millions of children in Asia and Africa grow up in extreme poverty, limiting their ability to receive an education and break free from the cycle of poverty. Our work gives even the most remote communities the opportunity to make the impossible possible and give their children a chance to make a better life for themselves.

Over 25 million people die each year without ever having had the possibility to hear about Jesus. But by helping to raise up local Christian workers, we create spaces for people to experience God in their own culture and avoid the language and cultural barriers that could otherwise constrain the sharing of the love of Christ with those in spiritual need.
