Christian Youth Event Returns As Research Finds Young People More Likely To Have BeenTo Church

NATIONAL CHRISTIAN YOUTH EVENT RETURNS AS RESEARCH FINDS YOUNG PEOPLE MORE LIKELY TO HAVE BEEN TO CHURCH THAN ANY OTHER AGE GROUP IN 2022

A recent Savanta ComRes survey has found that young people were more likely to have been to church in the last 12 months (56%) and have heard of the Great Commission and know at least a little bit about it (26%) than any other age group. The research, commissioned by UK charity Operation Mobilisation (OM), comes as the charity celebrates the return of its national youth event, Teenstreet UK.

Teenstreet motivates and equips young people from across the UK to live confidently in their faith and deepen their relationship with God and will run from 27th July to 2nd August 2023 at The Poplars, Ledbury, Herefordshire. The event also aims to encourage teens to explore how their giftings can positively impact the world through teaching, worship, and other events.

Arnold Mabiala, Teenstreet UK Coordinator, said:

OM wants to see young people grow in their faith and be supported as they root themselves as Jesus followers. Teenstreet UK is grounded in biblical teaching, small group support, and includes an array of activities, workshops and seminars. We’re motivated to continue connecting the UK into Teenstreet’s thriving global community that sees teens live out God’s love at home and around the world.

Abigail, 17, attended Teenstreet UK in 2022, and said:

I have a dream to tell people about God who are in really difficult places. Sometimes people discourage me, but I felt God saying to me at Teenstreet 2022 that it was time to stop feeling afraid of what others think about me. If our purpose as Christians is to make disciples, then we must be willing to go anywhere.

Teenstreet UK was pioneered in 2022 and is part of the 30-year legacy of a global movement of young Jesus followers run by Operation Mobilisation. Since launching in Germany in 1993, Teenstreet has grown rapidly across Europe to over 12,000 participants from 45 nations, and has been replicated in Brazil, Australia, the Middle East, the Philippines and Malaysia. As well as teenagers, Teenstreet also equips youth leaders to serve their youth groups after the event.
