How Living, Loving, Serving is inspiring hearts and minds

Keep The Faith recently released their first-ever documentary. Marcia Dixon MBE charts the journey
 
The past few months have seen Keep The Faith achieve a God-given vision: the completion of our first-ever documentary: Living, Loving, Serving: Women Leaders in the Church (LLSWLC), which shines a spotlight on women in ministry.

I have the deepest respect for women in ministry. My first pastors, who you’ll learn about in the documentary, were women, so I have always seen women play an active role in church life – whether preaching, pastoring, singing in the choir, doing missionary work, teaching Sunday School… the list could go on. I have interviewed women in ministry, run PR campaigns for them – and even ran a women’s ministry event to help them grow spiritually; teach them about PR; and build their networks.

LLSWLC is a continuation of my work supporting women in ministry and is also Keep The Faith’s first foray into making documentaries about the Black Christian experience. My prayer is that it’s the first of many.

I created the LLSWLC concept, and Laurelle Jones brought the idea to life with her directing, and numerous donors – plus sponsors the Pentecostal Community Bank and Abigale Otchere – helped finance this project.

LLSWLC highlights the life, work and faith of five Christian women in ministry – and the impact they’re having on the wider community. They are: the Rt Revd Rosemarie Mallett, Bishop of Croydon; Tanya Hughes OBE, Trustee of Women on the Frontline and Women’s Ministry leader at ARC Dagenham; Apostle Marjorie Esomowei, Founder of Wisdom for Women International and Co-pastor of Triumphant Church International; Pastor Rhona Mpologoma Tackie; and Pastor Yvonne Brooks, Founder of Esther’s Academy.

Work on LLSWLC started in 2024, was completed in 2025, and, for the last few months, I had been contemplating how to share it with the world. I initially wanted to have an in-person launch and was waiting until I had the funds to do so. I felt inspired by God, however, to hold an online screening for female church/ministry leaders, donors and sponsors. Juliet Coley hosted the first screening on March 31, which had over 110 people in attendance. The second screening, hosted by Claudine Reid MBE in April had over 140 people present.

The response was overwhelmingly positive, with audiences welcoming the opportunity to also hear first-hand from the women featured in LLSWLC and to glean from their wisdom during the panel discussions.
 
The first live screening of LLSWLC was organised by ARC Dagenham and hosted by Tanya Hughes OBE. A second live screening was held at New Jerusalem Community Church in Birmingham, hosted by Pastor Yvonne Brooks. We are trusting there will be more.

I know I made the right decision when I stepped out in faith to make LLSWLC. People who have watched it have been inspired; it is also motivating them to investigate ways they can better serve the Lord. If this documentary encourages people to step out in their calling, or do more for the Lord – even if it’s just one person – the blood, sweat and tears working on LLSWLC will have been worth it!

Living, Loving, Serving is a significant and historic project. It highlights the range and breadth of ministry that women are involved in. I love that it featured women of different church affiliations, ages and forms of ministry. In years to come, when people view this documentary, they will get a picture of where ministry can take us and the significant impact we can have on those we serve and those around us. More importantly, Living, Loving, Serving shows that women are changing lives.

It was inspiring, uplifting and so encouraging. I enjoyed how the interviewees talked about their lives and how their faith stirred them to do what they do. The takeaways for me were: to be a servant, embrace what God has given you to do, and to do it even if you’re afraid, just do it for God’s glory and for His Name’s sake.
