Thanksgiving Service 2026

Built Together on Christ, the Living Stone:
Join Us for LCM’s Thanksgiving Service 2026

Every year, London City Mission gathers churches, supporters, missionaries, and friends from across the city for an evening that feels less like an event and more like a family reunion – a moment to pause, give thanks, and remember the faithfulness of God in the heart of London. This year, we’re inviting you to be part of something truly special: LCM’s Thanksgiving Service 2026, an evening shaped by worship, stories of gospel transformation, and a deep reminder of who we are in Christ.

On Thursday 24 September 2026, Westminster Chapel will open its doors to welcome people from every corner of London – church leaders, volunteers, long-time supporters, and those simply curious about the work God is doing in our city. Whether you’ve partnered with LCM for years or you’re discovering our mission for the first time, this gathering is designed to encourage, inspire, and strengthen your faith.

A Night to Celebrate God’s Faithfulness in London

London is a city of extraordinary diversity, complexity, and beauty – a place where cultures, languages, and stories meet every day. It’s also a city where many people face deep challenges: isolation, poverty, marginalisation, and spiritual hunger. Yet in the midst of this, God is at work. Through churches, missionaries, and everyday Christians, the gospel continues to bring hope to people who need it most.

The Thanksgiving Service is our annual moment to pause and recognise that work. Throughout the evening, you’ll hear real stories from real people – testimonies of lives changed by the grace of God, shared by those who have encountered Jesus through the ministry of LCM missionaries and partner churches. These stories aren’t polished or scripted; they’re honest, moving, and rooted in the everyday reality of mission in London.

You’ll hear how God is meeting people on housing estates, in community centres, in cafés, on doorsteps, and in conversations that begin with simple acts of kindness. You’ll hear how churches are growing in confidence to reach their neighbourhoods, and how the gospel continues to break down barriers of culture, class, and background. And you’ll hear how God is using ordinary Christians – people just like you – to bring extraordinary hope.

This Year’s Theme: Built Together on Christ, the Living Stone

Our theme for 2026 is drawn from 1 Peter 2:4-12, where Peter describes Jesus as the Living Stone – the foundation on which God is building a new people, a spiritual house, a community shaped by grace and truth. It’s a powerful reminder that the church is not held together by structures, strategies, or personalities, but by Christ himself.

“As you come to him, the living Stone… you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house.”

This theme speaks directly into the heart of mission in London. In a city marked by fragmentation and difference, God is building something united, purposeful, and beautiful. He is forming a people who belong to Him – chosen, loved, and sent out to proclaim His goodness.

We’re delighted that Efrem Buckle, LCM’s Deputy CEO, will be opening up this passage for us. Efrem brings deep pastoral wisdom, theological clarity, and a passion for seeing churches flourish in mission. His message will help us reflect on what it means to be built together in Christ – not just as individuals, but as a community shaped for gospel purpose.

Why You Should Be There

The Thanksgiving Service isn’t just an event to attend – it’s a moment to be part of. Here’s what you can expect:

  • Worship that lifts your eyes to Christ, reminding us of the hope we share.
  • Stories that stir your heart, showing how God is transforming lives across London.
  • Biblical teaching that strengthens your faith, grounding us in the truth of who we are in Christ.
