Church Leader who served community remembered

The Christian community is mourning the passing of Apostle Tunde Balogun, founder and senior pastor of the Kingsborough Centre in Uxbridge, Middlesex.

Known as a community champion, Apostle Tunde founded the Kingsborough Centre in 2003 in a family living room. It is now a thriving church and community hub, serving people across the London Borough of Hillingdon and beyond.

Under Apostle Tunde’s leadership, the church established Hillingdon Foodbank and founded Coat of Many Colours Nurseries, creating high-quality childcare provision. An advocate for community cohesion, Apostle Tunde worked closely with local authorities, churches, faith groups and community organisations. In 2023, he was appointed as Chaplain to the Mayor of Hillingdon.

Born in Nigeria in 1968 to HRH Oba Ebenezer Adetayo Balogun JP (Olusomiro I), the Olu of Ajura, Apostle Tunde became a Christian in 1987 whilst studying Sociology and Anthropology at Obafemi Awolowo University.

He came to Britain in 1994 and joined Jesus House in Brent, north London. He was ordained as a pastor in 1996, and later served as an assistant pastor, earning the respect and admiration of many for his dedication and compassion.

Apostle Tunde will be remembered for his faith, integrity, generosity, wisdom and unwavering commitment to people.
